New CIC Chair Introduced
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 1, 2016—Guy Bargnes was officially introduced as the new Collision Industry Conference (CIC) chairman at the 2016 SEMA Show.
Jeff Hendler, CIC’s executive director, brought Bargnes on stage to address CIC members on the first of a two-day meeting at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, just after thanking Randy Stabler for his service as chairman over the past two years.
Bargnes, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Painters Supply & Equipment Co., said he believes he will bring a unique perspective to the position coming from the supplier segment of the industry, and plans to promote a culture based on information and continuous improvement.
“I understand the customer-supplier relationship. I believe in the great power of knowledge that takes place between the customer and supplier," said Bargnes, whose experience includes 20 years as North American director of sales and marketing for BASF. "And I don’t mean knowledge and information in the commercial sense. I mean the kind of information that’s core to business—the kind of information that you can use to make decisions, you can use to set your business apart.
“And if I have one objective or goal as chair, it’s to continue to help create this concept of information winners. The info they gleam from activities that take place here, they can take it back and figure out ways to be more efficient, more competitive, more aware of what’s taking place in the industry.”
Bargnes said he believes the organization will serve great importance to an industry on the cusp of great change.
“I believe in the role of CIC now, more than ever,” Bargnes said. “With some of the things we heard about earlier this morning, like the issues around vehicle technology and this whole concept of BMS, we'll keep discussing where that’s going to take us. We’ve got such a quickly changing industry, that without a forum like this, there is no other avenue I’m aware of where this level of exchange can take place.”
